About Colin
My qualifications are BSc, BA, Cert Ed. My experience as a tutor is at GCSE, BTEC, AS and A levels of any age, and as an Open University Tutor. I also have extensive experience in the writing of AS and A-level Syllabuses and Exam Questions for an Examination Board; and as an Examiner in Biology and Sport Science. I am also a qualified Middle Distance Track Coach and an experienced Football Coach. I am an experienced teacher at A/AS levels in Further Education and a one-time Open University tutor in Biology. I am also the author of a prize-winning A/AS Biology book published by Heinemann, three publications for Pan Books, a multiple-reprinted book on Exercise Physiology, and Biology practical guides for Philip Harris.

My preferred teaching technique is, using the relevant Specification/Syllabus to provide notes for discussion with the tutee, encouraging a questioning approach by the student. I particularly concentrate on examination technique as that is where most marks are lost and gained at all grades and where busy teachers often do not have the time nor the experience to concentrate their efforts. The typical length of a lesson is one hour, including much ancillary support.
