About Emily
Hi, I’m Emily—a Biological Sciences graduate on the path to medical school, and a passionate tutor who believes that with the right support, every student can thrive. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but to build their confidence and curiosity along the way. I bring both academic expertise and a nurturing, approachable teaching style to every session. Having been a highly self-motivated student myself, I understand what it’s like to face challenges without a lot of outside support. That experience allows me to connect deeply with students who may feel overwhelmed, unsure, or just need someone to believe in them. I specialize in high school science courses like chemistry and biology, and I’m committed to creating a space where students feel safe to ask questions, think critically, and develop a strong foundation. As a tutor, my approach is rooted in empathy, structure, and empowerment. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, challenged, and understood—so I create a space where they feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. My teaching method blends high expectations with warmth. I break down complex topics into digestible steps, use visuals and analogies to connect concepts to real life, and ask guiding questions that encourage critical thinking rather than memorization.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in to assess where the student is—academically and mentally. From there, we review key concepts, work through problems together, and then shift to independent practice with feedback. I like to end sessions with a short reflection or recap so the student leaves feeling clear and confident.
What sets me apart is that I’ve been that student who had to be independent and self-motivated. I understand what it feels like to want more from your education, and I bring that insight into every session. With a degree in Biological Sciences and a pre-med track, I specialize in high school chemistry, biology, and general science courses. My lessons are designed for students who are college-bound, aiming to improve their academic confidence, or simply looking to make sense of the material in a more relatable way.
Whether a student is struggling or aiming to excel further, I meet them where they are—with patience, clarity, and a shared belief in their potential.
