About Ben

BIMM Graduate 3 years teaching experience - I am a 26-year-old guitarist and producer based near Stillorgan area with a very professional yet relaxed approach to teaching. My job as a teacher is to inspire within you a love for the instrument, to keep you picking it up all the time after the lesson is over, to show you the absolute magic that is the ability to play and get lost in a world of music, both your own original and songs that you know and love. ️
We will touch on:
Technique (fretting, picking, strumming, fingerstyle)
Chords & chord progressions
Rhythm & timing
Scales & lead guitar
Music theory (practical and applied)
Ear training
Song learning (student’s favorite styles)
Improvisation & soloing
Songwriting basics
Tone, gear & sound shaping
Performance skills & confidence
Practice routines & progression tracking

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around making lessons engaging, structured, and tailored to each student’s individual goals and musical taste. I focus on building strong fundamentals in technique, rhythm, and musicality, while also incorporating songs and styles the student enjoys to keep learning motivating and practical.

I use a combination of demonstration, guided practice, and simple theory to help students understand not just how to play, but why things work musically. I also encourage creativity, whether that’s improvisation, songwriting, or developing their own sound.

Lessons are typically 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s level and preference. Each lesson follows a clear structure, with warm-ups, skill development, and applied playing, while still allowing flexibility based on progress.

I hold a Bachelors in Commercial Modern Music from BIMM Dublin and have over three years of experience teaching both one-to-one and group lessons, working with students of all ages.

My lessons are open to beginners through to more advanced players, including children, teenagers, and adults. Whether someone is picking up the guitar for the first time or looking to refine their skills, I adapt my teaching style to suit their level and goals.

Perfect! My daughter is taking lessons with Ben for leaving cert music theory and finds him way better than her school teacher. She was feeling really lost with music theory in 5th year but feels that Ben has given her confidence and a better understanding of the subject.

I'm a complete novice guitar player who has tried countless times to get into playing guitar, always putting the guitar down due to frustration and a feeling of going nowhere. Ben’s adaptive and immersive teaching methods have really helped me break through that initial barrier of not knowing what I’m doing by giving me a fun, yet structured lesson and practice plan. Highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of picking up the guitar either for the first time or trying to get back into it.

Ben is a great guitar teacher, really easy to get along with, and makes lessons feel relaxed but still super productive. He explains things in a way that actually makes sense, especially if you’ve struggled before, and he’s patient when you need to go over stuff a few times.
You can tell he genuinely cares about helping you improve and not just rushing through a lesson. I'd definitely recommend him if you want to get better without any pushing or stress.
