You will be working with someone who continues to apply the things that you will learn to his own regular performances to this day. I am known for being very patient, cordial, and humorous. We will be taking into account the music and singers who you like. I encourage a parent or family member to accompany you for the first several lessons, to assist me with introductory procedures.

Learn to sing with power and expression. You will receive guidance in using the correct spaces in your vocal mechanism to resonate your tones, enabling you to sing for hours with little effort. Learn to apply these techniques to interpret the songs you sing to evoke an emotional response from your audience. I encourage the use of vocal exercises, but also modeling -- learning the approaches of the greatest singers in popular music and applying them to your own voice. I have adapted the approach of famed vocal clinician Joseph Klein, who was known for training opera singers including Marilyn Horne, to popular voice. I also teach mic technique, singing in a recording situation, performance presentation, harmony singing, and musicianship. Vocal preservation is essential, so your voice stays strong for years and you can sing for hours without strain. I prefer to work with males whose voices have gone through the adolescent change and females over the age of 12.
