About Kathryn
Sewing and making clothes since I was 13, I graduated in Fashion Design in 2013 where my graduate collection was awarded the prestigious Sophie Hallette University Design Challenge award, and was also featured in Vogue & Drapers. I went on to manage the collections and ateliers of London Fashion Week brands Ashley Williams, Sibling London and Meadham Kirchhoff. I was responsible for overseeing the design and development of catwalk collections including sourcing, pattern making, working with in-house seamstresses and external factories in the build-up to LFW, and post-show managing sales, bulk production and wholesale distribution. In 2021 I launched my own label, Pristine, which has had a rapid ascent. ABOUT PRISTINE Pristine is stocked internationally by retailers including Ssense and Beams. Has been featured in Vogue, Drapers, Tatler, Metal Magazine and more. Our pieces have been worn by stars including Olivia Rodrigo, Julia Fox, Kourtney Kardashian, Rita Ora and many K-pop idols. We have also been a viral sensation on social media, with many of our videos racking up millions of views and interactions. Pristine’s mission is to combine ethical and heritage materials, and couture detailing, with a contemporary, playful aesthetic. We prioritise sustainable practices, manufacture in the UK, and offer bespoke tailoring as a standard to our customers. We work with some of the UK and Europe's oldest and most respected textile mills including Lochcarron of Scotland, Cluny of Nottingham and Jean Bracq.

PORTFOLIO GUIDANCE (UNIVERSITY & JOB APPLICATIONS) As an award-winning graduate, with many years' experience recruiting designers & interns for various London Fashion Week brands, and experience assisting with the University interview process, I can guide you to ensure your portfolio is ideal for your desired career path. I provide honest, constructive yet empathetic feedback based upon real-world application. It is my priority to ensure your portfolio is as unique as you are as a designer. We will work together to make your projects shine, and highlight what makes you special - your skills, interests, inspirations, and help you fulfil your creative and professional potential. SEWING & MAKING With over 20 years of experience making clothes both independently and commercially, we will work together one-on-one to make your sewing dreams come true. Whether you are an absolute beginner, or more experienced, my tailored classes can have you sewing confidently in no time. Working from my Shoreditch studio where we have a range of machinery and equipment (industrial lockstitch machines, industrial overlocker, domestic machine, cover stitch, industrial iron, large cutting tables, heat press, mannequins etc). Whether you want help with a specific project, or a truly beginner introduction to machines, processes etc, we can create a bespoke lesson programme just for you. I can cover pattern making/size grading, fitting, fabric cutting, interfacings, linings, finishings, fastenings, construction & pressing. If you want a truly beginner introduction, I can teach a range of basic projects including mini skirts, t-shirts, cushions, tote bags. If you have purchased a sewing pattern you want help to put together, we can do that too! Or if you have a twinkle of an idea in your head and want to bring it to fruition, we can work through the whole process together. Specialist areas include: -Traditional/couture finishes -Corsetry -Upcycling/sustainable materials -Bias cutting FASHION BRAND / BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT As founder of my own small fashion brand, and with a decade of prior experience I am well-versed in the varied nature of fashion studio operations from design & development, to pattern cutting, sample machinist work, tech packs, social media management, e-commerce management, wholesale & logistics and more. Since launching in 2021, my brand; Pristine, has been stocked in Ssense, Beams, Gr8 and Opener, been featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Drapers, Metal Magazine and Bricks. We have cultivated a dedicated following on Instagram (52K) and TikTok (29k) with huge viral posts, and worn by Olivia Rodrigo, Kourtney Kardashian, Rosalia, Halsey, Julia Fox and k-pop idols. Prior to Pristine, I have worked in-house managing the production and ateliers for brands including Ashley Williams, Meadham Kirchhoff, Sibling London and Roksanda, and for vintage upcycling brand Rokit. I have spoken on schedule at London Fashion Week discussing the urgency of sustainability in the fashion industry. I can assist you with: -Design, sourcing, product development, print development, pattern cutting & grading, sample & production sewing. -Working with upcycled/repurposed garments/materials. -Wholesale liaison, costing, CAD drawings, tech packs, critical path management, factory liaison, pick/packs, quality control. -Customer service, e-commerce management, copywriting, email marketing, viral social media content & management for Instagram & TikTok. -PR & stylist outreach, press loans.
