About Georgina

I am an award nominated actor, writer and graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire drama school, passionate about helping people hone their acting skills, kill it at auditions and feel confident both socially and as a public speaker. I also received training through courses at Guildford School of Acting and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and therefore have been taught by a wide variety of the leading professionals in the UK. I have worked as a drama school audition assistant at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, meaning I have overseen hundreds of students auditioning each year and who is most successful. My students have got into the likes of East 15, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the National Youth Theatre. My credits as an actor include Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty (Attic Theatre, Stratford), Rosalind in As You Like It (MAC Theatre, Birmingham) and Katie in No Sugar (Short Film directed by Doctors director Niall Fraser). I am also the founder of Blue Duck Theatre Company, which recently debuted my first play ‘Spare Room’ at the Hen and Chickens Theatre in London this summer. It was very well received critically including a five star review
and five award nominations.
I have been consistently teaching and running acting classes for the past seven years at various schools, workshops and camps and can offer acting tutoring for anyone interested in one to one actor training. I have an enhanced DBS check and have worked with a wide range of ages and abilities. Anyone is welcome no matter your experience! I have worked a lot with confidence building for those new to acting or simply looking to gain other skills that acting tutoring can provide. My lessons are tailored to suit your needs. Whether you want drama school audition tutoring, an introduction to acting, to develop your craft, prepare for a LAMDA exam, work on public speaking or to simply build confidence, I have taught a wide range of different students and am more than happy to accommodate. We can work with text, improvisation, movement, the voice, breath or confidence exercises; whatever is most helpful for you!
An Introduction to Acting:
Nervous about trying acting for the first time? As an actor myself I know how nerve wracking performing can be, so please be assured that I will put you at ease! Whether you start with your back turned to me to or laugh your way through it, I’ve seen it all and am more than happy to accommodate as we build up your confidence.
Unless you have a specific request, I find that monologues are always a good place to start. I will help you to find a piece you feel comfortable with; a genre you love or even something from your favourite TV show or film! It’s important to me that you start with a piece of text that resonates with you. I have an abundance of monologues from stage to screen so we’ll have no problem picking something great.
Throughout my lessons I will teach you how to approach a monologue, how to develop a character and how to deliver a piece of text naturally and truthfully. Depending on your needs and skill set we can do voice work, movement work, or even just build your confidence! My acting tutoring is truly suited to your needs.
Once we have worked on a few monologues to a high standard we can look into recording your work with my professional self tape set up. Not only is it a great learning exercise to watch yourself back, I can help you to use your footage to set up an acting profile and start getting you into a real audition room!

Auditions & Exams:
Having been a drama school audition assistant, I have observed a lot of successful and unsuccessful applicants and have a great understanding of what really works in an audition or exam room. How you present yourself, what monologue you choose and how you work and play with the text behind the scenes are all vital parts of achieving success and I am here to guide you through that process.
Through my lessons I will begin by helping you find a monologue choice that is right for you and best presents your abilities. I have an abundance of resources to help you to know where to start looking as I know this is an overwhelming process.
Once we have found the monologues best suited, we will begin to build on your textual analysis; with the aid of practitioners such as Stanislavski and Uta Hagen, we will delve into your characters background, relationships, what they want and what is getting in their way. We will use this analysis to really anchor your speech and create the most detailed and truthful work.
I am a strong believer that play is a great tool for getting your monologue to the next level. We will use drama school approved exercises to get you trying opposing interpretations of your script; this will really begin to enhance your work as well as preparing you for redirection in the audition room.
The aim of my audition and exam tutoring is to gain you confidence in yourself and your pieces, so you can walk into that room knowing you are giving yourself the best possible chance at success!
Confidence Coaching:
Using techniques I’ve learnt through my training as an actor, I will guide you towards reframing negative self talk, building positive affirmations and setting achievable goals towards your growth in confidence. I want to help you to focus on your strengths and build on them!
The phrase ‘fake it til you make it’ isn’t far off in my experience. I will guide you through the process of strengthening your communication; practising articulation, a healthy pitch, engaging inflection and proper mouth shapes as well as working on what your body language conveys about you. We can work through real life scenarios and find ways to ground you in those moments you feel the most under confident.
There is also the opportunity to work on a monologue! Even if you aren’t looking for a career in acting, however old you are acting classes are proven to help grow your confidence. We will find something you're comfortable with and go from there!
Speech Therapy:
Through various articulation and voice exercises, I have helped many students overcome difficulties with their speech. We will focus on perfecting your mouth shapes, improving your inflection and pitch and pinpointing any areas of stress or weakness. We will also look into your body language, as over half of our communication is non-verbal!
