About Frances Rose

Hello! My name is Frances, I graduated with Honors and Distinction from Indiana University in 2023 with a BFA in Dance and a BA in Political Science. I received a full ride scholarship to IU, and while in college I received 2 additional scholarships to study abroad in Paris and Ghana.

I care about how people tell their stories in writing, especially for something as important as a college application or cover letter. Right now I live in New York City where I work in an art museum while also pursuing my own art. I’m constantly around language, ideas, and different ways of making meaning. I’ve also spent a lot of time writing and revising artist statements, which has made me familiar with how difficult it can be to turn something personal or intuitive into clear writing.

In tutoring, I like working with people at the very beginning of the process, when they’re not totally sure what their essay is yet or how to even start. I help with figuring out what the story actually is, and then shaping it into something that feels natural and specific, whether that’s for a college application, cover letter, essay, or resume.

About the lesson

I help students and early career applicants turn their personal experiences into clear and compelling essays, cover letters, and resumes. I will assist you in discovering what parts of your story matter most and how to shape them into writing that feels true to you but more focused and effective. I also help with brainstorming, revision, and refining ideas so your application materials sound natural, and honest.
