About Mary-Katherine
As an Artist and Educator of all ages - I have tried my hand at so many different creative outlets over the years! I believe myself to be more of a "Jack of All Trades - Master of None."
That being said; Drawing, painting and ceramics have always been my strongest areas - I have had some local shows and will soon be bringing my pottery to some neighborhood shops.
I live in the Grand Rapids area with my Husband and our two cats and have lived here for over 6 years! I create both paintings and pottery often; and just recently created a small studio space in our garage. Outside of creating, I love cozying up with a good book, trying new foods, and traveling.

Hi! I’m an art educator who believes art should be fun, creative, and a place where you can experiment without worrying about being “perfect.” Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or you’ve been creating for years, I’d love to help you build your skills and discover what you enjoy making.
I offer personalized lessons in drawing, painting, and sculpture for kids, teens, and adults. We can work on the basics, tackle a specific project, explore a new medium, or just spend some time creating and having fun!
- Drawing: Learn shading, perspective, proportions, character drawing, and more.
- Painting: Explore color mixing, composition, different techniques, and finding your own style.
- Sculpture: Get hands-on with form, texture, 3D design, and creative building.
Every lesson is tailored to you and your goals. Maybe you want help with a school project, want to build an art portfolio, are looking for a creative hobby, or simply want to get better at drawing your favorite things.
As a trained art educator, I know that everyone learns differently. My goal is to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where you can ask questions, try new things, make mistakes, and—most importantly—enjoy making art!
