1. Your Teaching Method & Techniques
My teaching approach combines design thinking, storytelling, and hands-on experimentation. Rather than focusing only on technical drawing, I guide students to understand how spaces shape human experiences through thought, emotions and feelings.
Lessons typically include:
• Practical exercises such as sketching spaces, building simple models, and visual storytelling.
• Research-driven thinking, where students analyze real buildings, cities, and environments.
• Storyboarding and spatial narratives, helping students imagine how people move through and feel within a space.
• Concept exploration, where ideas evolve from inspiration to sketches to small prototypes.
The goal is to help students think like designers observing the world, asking questions, and translating ideas into spatial concepts.
2. A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical class is structured to balance creativity, analysis, and making.
1. Inspiration & Discussion (10–15 minutes)
We begin by exploring a theme such as sacred spaces, futuristic cities, nature-inspired architecture, or storytelling through design. Students look at references from architecture, art, books and films.
2. Concept Development (15 minutes)
Students brainstorm and sketch ideas. They learn how to translate abstract ideas into spatial concepts using diagrams and simple sketches.
3. Hands-on Design Exercise (30–40 minutes)
Students create something tangible:
• Sketch a conceptual building or space from fiction books
• Create a storyboard of a spatial journey
• Build a simple model using paper or basic materials or sketchup.
4. Reflection & Feedback (10–15 minutes)
We review the designs together, discussing what worked well and how ideas could evolve.
The goal is to develop creative confidence, design thinking, and visual communication skills.
3. What Sets me apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my professional experience as an architect combined with a strong interest in emerging fields like spatial storytelling and experience design.
Through my architectural studio work, I’ve been involved in designing buildings, urban concepts, and immersive environments. This allows me to expose students to how design works in the real world, beyond textbooks.
I also introduce students to:
• Architectural thinking and worldbuilding
• Spatial storytelling used in films, exhibitions, and immersive experiences
• Creative tools used by architects and designers
This approach helps students see design as a dynamic, interdisciplinary field that connects architecture, art, technology, and storytelling.
4. Who the Lessons Are For
These lessons are designed for middle school to high school students who are curious about architecture, design, art, or creative problem-solving.
They are especially helpful for students who:
• Are considering architecture, design, or creative fields for university
• Want to build creative portfolios
• Enjoy drawing, storytelling, worldbuilding, or building models
• Want to develop visual thinking and design skills
No prior experience is required only curiosity, free and wild imagination.
