About Amelia
I am a patient and empathetic teacher who believes every learner deserves support and encouragement. I chose teaching to help people and to be the kind of teacher I never had, especially in Afrikaans, which I find fascinating and full of possibilities. My approach is adaptable, shaped around each student’s needs, and I aim to build confidence by creating a comfortable environment where challenges become opportunities for growth. My goal is to help students become the best version of themselves and truly understand the areas they struggle with.

In my lessons, I begin by understanding each student’s needs and goals, then tailor the approach to suit them. A first lesson often starts with revision and clear explanations, followed by interactive activities that keep learning fun and engaging. I use games, colors, and real‑life examples to make Afrikaans feel accessible while still maintaining an academic focus. Homework may be given when needed, but I emphasize constructive feedback and practical ways to improve. As a TEFL‑certified BEd Senior and FET Languages student with two years of classroom experience, I adapt my methods for both teens and adults, focusing on what each learner struggles with and building confidence step by step. Students can expect lessons that are comfortable, motivating, and designed to help them truly understand and master Afrikaans.
