About Tova
With over 4 years of experience and a Graduate Diploma in Violin Pedagogy, I specialize in merging performance and theory in violin learning. My approach ensures students understand the “why” behind every note they play. I integrate aural skills, music theory, and sight reading into every lesson. This method is especially effective for students preparing for music theory exams or advanced harmony studies. We work on scales, intervals, and harmonic patterns directly on the violin. Practical bowing and fingering exercises make theoretical concepts come alive. I have guided exam candidates toward high achievement while also helping casual learners expand their knowledge. My teaching style is structured yet encouraging. We focus on tone quality, accurate intonation, and musical expression. Lessons are interactive and paced to suit each student's needs. In my violin lessons, sight-reading is more than a side skill—it’s a core focus. I help students read ledger lines fluently, handle tricky rhythms, and follow multi-part scores with confidence. The process is systematic and carefully paced. We build visual-to-finger reflexes so your response is immediate. I specialize in working with The Musical Theatre Enthusiast and The Worship Singer, who often face time-sensitive performances. Through guided practice, you’ll learn to decode music on the spot. Our sessions include rhythm clapping, melodic dictation, and score tracking exercises. I teach students how to scan ahead in the music while keeping steady time. This leads to smoother, more accurate playing. Over time, your reading becomes effortless. You’ll be able to walk into rehearsals and perform new music without hesitation. My goal is to make you both a skilled player and a confident reader.
