We met on a performing job where he fulfilled the role of Assistant Musical Director. This required him to regularly lead rehearsals and dedicate time to teaching parts/instruments to other cast members, in addition to being responsible for ensuring the high quality of music we were producing was maintained.
Whilst being organised and assertive in this position of authority, James also always created a calm and fun atmosphere. He paid attention to each performers individual needs and worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable and confident in their work.
