About Garrison
I am a dedicated saxophone tutor with over 9 years of experience teaching college students. I believe learning music should be clear, motivating, and enjoyable. My teaching style focuses on building strong fundamentals while helping students grow confident in their playing. Each lesson is planned based on the student’s level, goals, and comfort.
My lessons cover tone quality, breath control, finger technique, rhythm accuracy, and musical expression. I balance technical exercises with creative practice so students stay interested and relaxed. Improvisation and performance practice are included to help students express themselves freely.
I use real-life music examples to show how techniques are applied in real songs and performances. I also use modern tools such as recording feedback, play-along tracks, and structured practice routines. These methods help students clearly track progress and improve faster.
Along with saxophone skills, I teach music theory, ear training, and sight-reading to build a strong musical base. My lessons are supportive and well-organised, helping students enjoy learning while developing confidence and consistency.

My approach to teaching Saxophone is student-centred and well-structured. I believe every student has the ability to improve with proper guidance and consistent practice. I focus on building strong fundamentals such as breathing technique, posture, embouchure strength, finger accuracy, tone clarity, and timing.
Creativity plays an important role in my lessons. Students are encouraged to explore musical ideas, play familiar tunes, and practise guided improvisation. As a mentor, I support students with patience and encouragement, helping them stay confident and focused on their learning goals.
Critical thinking is encouraged by teaching students to listen carefully, analyse their playing, and correct mistakes independently. Accountability is maintained through regular assignments, practice planning, and progress feedback.
Along with Saxophone lessons, I also teach Music Theory, Rhythm Exercises, Ear Training, and Scale Studies to strengthen musical understanding.
