About Ishmael
I started teaching trumpet at the age of 14, and now at 19 I have gained a lot of valuable experience in the best way to approach each lesson. I’ve also helped in numerous youth orchestras across London. I was a member of the LSSO( London school symphony orchestra) for 4 years and became principle trumpet in my final 2 years. I have continued my symphonic playing both in London, as a member of the Odyssey festival Orchestra, and in Manchester, as part of the University symphony orchestra. This is alongside being a member of the University Big Band.

My goal through teaching is to cultivate a love of music for all of my students. I aim to dedicate a lot of each lesson to forming a strong technique. However beyond that I aim to gain an understanding of what each student wants to get out of playing the trumpet so I can cater my lessons accordingly. I’ve got vast experience in both orchestral and big band playing, so can lend my expertise in whatever way necessary. I completed my ARSM diploma at 17 to a distinction level in London, and have continued my playing up in Manchester. Through experience, I recommend 30 minute lessons for intermediate level trumpeters, and 45 minutes- 1 hour for more advanced players.
