About Zara
I have 9 years of experience teaching guitar and hold a B.Mus in Guitar Performance and an M.Mus in Contemporary Music. Over the years, I have guided students ranging from complete beginners to advanced performers, helping them develop both technical skill and musical expression. My approach emphasizes patience, creativity, and adaptability, ensuring lessons are engaging, productive, and tailored to individual goals.
My teaching philosophy focuses on combining structured skill-building exercises with creative exploration. Students practice finger techniques, chord transitions, scales, improvisation, and repertoire while also learning to convey emotion and style in their playing. I encourage them to reflect on their progress, embrace challenges, and develop confidence in both practice and performance settings.
Outside of teaching, I perform, compose, and stay active in the music community, keeping up with contemporary trends and pedagogical research. This engagement enriches my lessons with real-world insights and inspiring examples. Witnessing students grow into confident, expressive, and versatile guitarists is deeply rewarding. My mission is to nurture technically skilled, musically expressive, and emotionally connected performers who enjoy the journey of learning guitar.

Learning guitar becomes an immersive and inspiring experience when students develop both technique and personal expression. My lessons combine foundational skills such as finger positioning, chord transitions, strumming, and arpeggios with advanced techniques like solo phrasing, vibrato, bending, and improvisation. I incorporate popular, classical, and contemporary repertoire to keep students engaged and help them discover their unique musical voice. Each lesson is structured to provide a balance between skill development, musical understanding, and expressive performance.
Beginners start with essential chord shapes, basic strumming patterns, and simple melodies to build a solid foundation. Intermediate learners expand into fingerstyle techniques, lead playing, improvisation, and understanding music theory as it applies to performance. Advanced learners explore complex repertoire, arrangement, performance nuances, stage presence, and advanced improvisational concepts. Every session is tailored to each student’s goals, abilities, and learning style to ensure continuous improvement and confidence-building.
Guitar lessons are more than technique—they cultivate creativity, emotional expression, and performance confidence. Students gain the ability to express themselves through music, improvise thoughtfully, and perform confidently in various settings. My aim is to help learners become technically proficient, expressive, and versatile guitarists, equipped to enjoy music for both personal satisfaction and public performance.
